Para los que no conocen la historia de este muchacho, transcribo la nota que sacó Radar ayer:
La resignación es algo fácil de pasar por alto hasta el momento en el que se termina. Steven Slater, auxiliar de vuelo, encontró su límite cuando un avión de la aerolínea JetBlue aterrizó en uno de los aeropuertos de Nueva York.
Es común pedir a los pasajeros que no se levanten de su asiento hasta que al avión se haya detenido por completo. También es común la persona que hace lo que se le canta; Slater tuvo que ir a decirle a un viajero que aguardara unos instantes antes de abrir el compartimiento superior para sacar su equipaje.
El azafato, a pesar de haber sido cortés, recibió una serie de insultos por parte del pasajero, quien abrió el compartimiento de todas formas y le dio a Slater con una valija en la cabeza.
En algún lugar de la cabeza del auxiliar de vuelo un fusible saltó por los aires. Cuenta el New York Times que Slater tomó el micrófono y, a través del altavoz del avión, le devolvió todas las puteadas al pasajero rebelde. Finalmente se despidió diciendo, “estuve en este negocio durante 28 años pero ya está: me cansé”.
Acto seguido, Slater tomó su equipaje, agarró una cerveza del carrito de bebidas y tiró de una palanca; eso hizo salir un tobogán amarillo que se usa para emergencias, y por ahí pasó el azafato exasperado, saliendo del avión y de su profesión.
Se fue corriendo hasta el estacionamiento, donde tomó su auto y se fue a su casa. Veinte minutos más tarde, alrededor de 50 policías fueron a buscarlo para meterlo preso por “comportamiento riesgoso” y demás banalidades. Ya era demasiado tarde: Slater es un héroe nacional, el abanderado de todos los que no pueden darse el lujo de perder la paciencia pero bien que les gustaría.
